Fully Funded Undergraduate and Postgraduate scholarship at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta Indonesia, application open until july 2022!

Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta or commonly known as UMS, is one of the 164 universities of Muhammadiyah and one of the 1890 private higher educational institutions in Indonesia. To widen the educational interaction globally, UMS eprovide an opportunity to international students to join and experience undergraduate or postgraduate studies through the International Priority Scholarship (IPS) program.

What does the scholarship provide?

The successful candidates will receive the following benefits which is determined by their performance and the decision of the university boards:

  • Monthly allowance of Rp 1750000 ($119)
  • Books allowance of Rp 50.000 /month
  • Health insurance
  • Tuition Fee
  • Return Flight ticket
  • VISA fees during scholarship period
  • Bahasa Indonesia course fee ( for those who wish to apply in Regular Program)

Level/Field(s) of study:

  • All Undergraduate Programmes (both Regular and International Class) that are available at Universitas Muhammadiyah Surakarta (UMS) EXCEPT Double Degree and Twinning Program.
  • All Postgraduate Program offered in Bahasa Indonesia except Magister Pendidikan Bahasa Inggris (Master of English Education) which delivered in English and Magister Hukum Islam (Master of Islamic Law) which delivered in Arabic.

The Regular class uses Bahasa as a medium of instruction whereas International class uses English as a medium of instruction.

What are the eligibility?

To be eligible to receive IPS Scholarship, candidates must fulfill the following conditions:

  • be a minimum of 18 years of age at the time of commencing the Scholarship
  • not holding Indonesian Citizenship
  • not be married, engaged to, or a de facto of a person who holds, or is eligible to hold Indonesian citizenship or permanent residency, at any time during the application and selection.
  • not be current serving military personnel
  • not be a citizen of Indonesia, hold permanent residency in Indonesia or be applying for a visa to live in Indonesia permanently
  • be able to satisfy the admission requirements set by UMS
  • be able to satisfy all requirements of the Department of Immigration

  • Colored photograph with dimension 4:6cm (Max Size 500KB - 1 MB)
  • Certificate of High School / university certificate
  • Academic Transcript
  • English Proficiency Certificate (If you wish to enroll in International Class)
  • Bahasa Indonesia Proficiency Certificate (If you wish to enroll in Regular Class)
  • Cover Passport (scan fully (every corner must be scanned), and use high resolution picture Max Size 300KB)
  • Passport (Scan Page 1 and 2 fully (every corner must be scanned), and use high resolution picture Max Size 500KB)
  • Recommendation Letter
  • Health Condition Certificate (form can be downloaded here)
  • Drug Free Certificate (optional)
  • Essay of Achievement (optional)
  • Essay of Organization Experience (optional)
  • Declaration Letter (form can be downloaded here)

All necessary documents have to be translated in English and certified by an authorized person.
