Community Engagement Exchange Program 2023-2024 is an opportunity to strengthen cooperation and establish peace among various nations and countries by supporting and promoting civil society leaders in over 100 countries to build healthy and participatory communities. This international exchange program in the United States gives emerging and influential leaders a platform to use their full potential and strengths to build working networks and blossoming relationships between segregated communities. The Community Engagement Exchange Program lasts one year.

The primary goal of this fully funded exchange program in the United States is to focus on key participatory factors required for societal growth and progress. The key factors include gender equality, participatory government, sustainable development, youth participation and resilience. By incorporating these critical factors, this generation's young leaders learn to collaborate and create a diverse and multi-disciplinary global civil society ecosystem.

The Community Engagement Exchange Program is a US government initiative that is supported by the International Research and Exchange Board (IREX). IREX is a well-known non-profit organization that works to create extraordinary exchange programs in the fields of education and development. The primary goal of the community engagement exchange program is to give students the opportunity to think about issues of public concern and come up with practical solutions to such arising problems in society. The leadership program fosters leadership and decision-making skills in today's youth and provides an opportunity to promote cultural exchange and improve international relations.

The CEE Program consists of a three-month program in the United States, participation in the Leadership and Civic Engagement Academy, community engagement projects, and ongoing global and local networking. During its tenure from 2023 to 2024, the CEE Program will focus on five major themes, including harnessing the power of networks, relationships, and information for the public good, with a particular emphasis on civic dialogue and peacebuilding, women and gender equality, resilience and sustainable development, and youth engagement.

Criteria for Eligibility:

• Applicants must live and work in their home countries.
• They must be between the ages of 21 and 28.
• Applicants must also have two years of work or volunteer experience when applying.
• If an applicant is a refugee, they will represent their home country.
• Furthermore, they must be fluent in the English language.
• Applicants must be able to live in the United States for at least three months.
• They must be willing to serve their countries for two years after returning home.
• Applicants who have previously participated in the United States exchange program must have completed the two-year home residency requirement.
• Individuals who have been a permanent resident in the United States for the previous three years are not eligible.
• They must not be employed by IREX or related to any current IREX employee.
• Applicants must be citizens of one of the countries listed above.
• Individuals who are currently enrolled in educational, training, or research programs in the United States or other countries at the time of application are also ineligible for the fully funded exchange program.
• People who have applied for permanent residency in the United States within the last three years are also ineligible.

Fellowship in the United States for three months:

• IREX matches CEE fellows with civil society organizations across the country.
• Fellows are supported by designated supervisors and peers during their three-month practical professional fellowship.
• CEE fellows explore program topics through an interactive curriculum that includes service learning, face-to-face training, mentoring, professional development, and inclusion in a global network.

CEP (Community Engagement Project):

CEE Fellows design and plan a Community Engagement project to carry out after they return home with the assistance of their host organization and mentors from the United States. When fellows leave the United States, they carry out these projects in their home communities.

Community Engagement Project (CEP) Exchange:

Selected world leaders and US hosts will travel to a country of alumni from Central and Eastern Europe to work collaboratively to support the fellow's project implementation and bring back what they learn to strengthen communities in the US or your home country.
