VLIR-UOS Scholarships in Belgium

Applications are officially open for the 2026 VLIR-UOS Scholarships in Belgium! These international scholarships welcome students from 30 developing nations across Africa, Asia, and Latin America. Half of the awards are reserved for African applicants, with special consideration given to women. The VLIR-UOS ICP scholarships support students beginning their studies in September 2026. This year, the ICP Connect Scholarship accepts candidates for both bachelor’s and master’s programs. All eligible programs are taught in English. VLIR-UOS is offering fully funded scholarships for 20 academic programs, including five newly introduced ones. The ICP courses aim to equip students to become innovators and leaders capable of driving positive change in their communities and sectors. This fully funded opportunity opens doors for international learners to pursue their studies in Flanders, Belgium.

The VLIR-UOS scholarship covers all major expenses, including full tuition fees, insurance, travel costs, and living allowance. The 2026 VLIR-UOS Scholarships for students from developing nations fund the complete duration of eligible master’s programs (12 to 24 months), and up to two years for bachelor’s degrees. Recipients are not permitted to combine this award with partial scholarships or request extensions during the funding period. Graduates are expected to return as catalysts for positive change and contribute to development in their home countries. As a highly competitive scholarship, selection considers motivation, work experience, gender and regional balance, Leave No One Behind (LNOB) principles, and whether the applicant has previously received funding.

Eligibility Criteria :

1. Applicants must be nationals of one of the 29 eligible countries and must also be residing in one of these countries at the time of application.
2. For bachelor’s or initial master’s programs, candidates must be no older than 35 on 1 January 2026, while applicants for advanced master’s programs must not exceed 45 years of age. In addition, bachelor’s candidates must be at least 19 years old by the same date.
3. Candidates are expected to have relevant professional experience. Preference is given to individuals employed in higher education, civil society, public institutions, or those pursuing careers within these fields.
4. Recent graduates and applicants from the private sector without work experience may still be considered if they can demonstrate strong motivation and an outstanding academic or personal profile.
5. Each applicant may submit only one application for a VLIR-UOS ICP Connect scholarship per year, and they may not receive another grant to pursue this or any other study program at the same time.
6. Furthermore, applicants must not have previously held a Belgian government scholarship or been enrolled in a Belgian higher education institution before 1 January 2026.
