The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) that provide opportunities to all international graduates with a passion for research to get their PHD degree with a support for up to four years.

The SINGA will enable awardee student to pursue their PhD education in Singapore, the gateway to some of the fastest-growing economies in the Asia Pacific region.
It is a mandatory to be able to speak and understand English language because PhD training will be carried out in English at chosen lab either at A*STAR Research Institutes, NTU, NUS or SUTD.

What does the scholarship covers?

  • Tuition Fee
  • Monthly Stipend of S$2000 (Dollars Singapore), which will be increased up to S$2500 after passing qualifying examination.
  • One-time airfare grant of up to S$1,500
  • One-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000

What are the research area? (Field of study)

There are two categories of study fields which turn around:

  • Biomedical Science
  • Physical Science and Engineering

Under those categories, the four lab listed above provided several fields, project and supervisors for each project.

Required Documents

  • Passport
  • A recent passport-sized photo (in .jpeg or .png format)
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s academic transcripts.
  • Bachelor’s Degree certificate(s) / scroll(s) or a letter of certification from the university on your candidature if your degree certificate / scroll has not yet been conferred.
  • 2 recommendation reports by academic referees (to be completed and submitted online by the referees).
  • GRE / IELTS / TOEFL / SAT I & II / GATE results (Optional but may be requested by the university as part of the university admission requirement).

The submission deadline for August 2021 intake: 1 December 2020.

  • Make sure you have completed the documents and all transcripts need to be translated in English.
    Applicants should communicate with their academic referees about the recommendation reports (2 required).
  • Create an account and log in in the application portal under the link below and ensure that you apply for the correct scholarship – “Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA)” – in the application portal after logging in.
