ARES in Belgium: Join a fully funded scholarship for a Specialized Master or a training internship.

The Academy of Research and Higher Education (ARES in French language) is a public interest organism funded by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and specializing in higher education, academic affairs, international relations, development cooperation, studies statistics and communication.
Today, ARES offers the possibility to following a one-year specialization master's degree or an advanced training course between 4 and 6 months within an instution of the Wallonia-Brussels Federation in Belgium, in the fields of following studies:

Specialized Master:

  • Specialized master in development, environment and societies
  • Specialized Master in Human Rights
  • Specialized Master in Aquatic Resources Management and Aquaculture
  • Specialized Master in Risk and Disaster Management
  • Specialized Master in Integrated Health Risk Management in Southern Countries (GIRISS)
  • Specialized Master in International and Development Economics
  • Specialized Master in Transfusion Medicine
  • Specialized Master in Microfinance
  • Specialized master's degree in integrated production and preservation of natural resources in urban and peri-urban areas
  • Specialized Master in Public Health Methodology
  • Specialized Master in Public Health Sciences - Research Methods Applied to Global Health
  • Specialized Master in Environmental Sciences and Management in Developing Countries
  • Specialized Master in Transport and Logistics

Regarding internships:

  • Internship in quality control and assurance of medical and health products
  • Geographic information system internship
  • Methodological internship in support of innovation in family farming
  • Introductory research course for strengthening health systems
  • What does the scholarship cover?

    Each year, ARES awards approximately 150 scholarships in the master’s program and 70 scholarships in the internship program to nationals of countries of the South with the following financial support:

    • Round-trip international travel costs (to be justified)
    • Monthly allowance paid per day or per month depending on the scholarship (internship or master) in the amount of 83 Euros to 1400 Euros
    • Indirect mission fees
    • Insurance Fees
    • Other costs related to inter-university travel.

    Application Deadline:

    Registration is open until February 5, 2021
    For some internship programs such as the Geographic Information System Internship, Medicines and Health Products Quality Control and Assurance Internship, and Research Initiation Internship for Health Systems Strengthening, applicants should submit their applications before 25 January 2021

    How to register ?

    In order to register for the program offered by ARES, applicants must fulfill the required conditions as well as the online registration form via their GIRAF Platform.

    • You must first go to the application platform by clicking here or by going to the official website containing the information on the stock exchange, in the section “application procedure”.
    • Then, create a GIRAF account and wait for the validation of the account After validation of the account, the candidate will be able to access the registration form in their GIRAF profiles.
    • Complete the documents. You can complete your documents little by little using the "save as draft" menu.
    • Once the documents and the form have been completed, click on "submit the application",
